About Us

The Freedom Centre is a Community Hub on the Mereside Estate in Blackpool run by Freedom Church Mereside.

After years of being derelict the leadership team along with the local community have raised funds to renovate the former St Wilfrid’s Church Hall and give it back to the community as a place of social gathering and an access point to activities and support.

The centre offers a warm welcome and a place where you can enjoy a good cup of coffee from Martha’s Kitchen whilst browsing around our Second Chance small charity shop. Our kitchen also offers a light menu of toasties, cakes and daily specials at very reasonable prices.

The centre is open to the public Monday to Thursday from 8.45am to 1pm, and is available to book for private functions and meetings outside these hours. Alongside our kitchen and charity shop we also have a small conference room called Lighthouse that will seat up to 10 and a small quiet room called Mary’s Room for one-to-one support or a private meeting room for counselling or therapy. Why not have a look at our Room Hire page for more information.

Your Centre Manager Hannah is available to assist with any enquiries and can be reached through our Contact Us page.

Hannah Gaskell
Freedom Centre Manager

Hannah is our new Freedom Centre Manager, she is obsessed with colour coordination and hopes to bring her love of organisation to this role. Although Hannah will continue to worship at her own church, in Preston, she hopes her experience there will benefit the work here at the Freedom Centre. Hannah has been a member of leadership teams, PCC, Deanery and Diocesan Synod. She recently completed the ALM training in Administration and she runs a coffee morning in her community. She has a passion to work to further God’s kingdom.

Hannah loves her furbaby Ellie-Lou, all things pink, singing and curling up with a crochet project and a brew!
